In spring when the fruit trees are blossoming and the vines awake from hibernation, Tuscany is best discovered by foot. Peace surrounds the soul and from the tuskan hills the world looks like a different one. Majestic, graceful and harmonic.
Just throw on your hiking boots and start walking upfront your doorstep right beneath the olive trees. Obey the beautiful colours, following the well-known pilgrimage path ‘Via Fracigena’ while picking cherries from the trees or just enjoying the view on a medieval town. Hiking can be so special and diverse. And so distinct is spring in Tuscany. And if you tell us what you would like to discover, we are more than happy to help out with information, recommendations and maps. We might accompany you for a little while, since we also enjoy the smell of nature, blossoming meadows and the vital forests.
For your hikes we recommend planning in some more time since you could pass by a remote farm which invites to stay. Take off you hiking boots and have a sip of wine. Leave words behind and let emotions be your guidance. Feel small amidst the immensity of the region and at the same time as the world is yours. Enjoy this special feeling of freedom. Everything is as it should be.
OUR HIKING RECOMMENDATION
Walk along the ‘Via Francigena’ the oldest and most important pilgrimage route in the world. With its lengths of 1600km it already connected Canterbury with Rome in early medieval times. It was used for pilgrims from all over Europe as a connection to visit the grave of apostle Peter. In general the ‘Via Francigena’ is one of the main testimonials of medieval times. It strengthened the exchange of different cultures as a connection between Italy and the rest of Europe.
The old pilgrim’s path from England to France, Switzerland and Italy to Rome was declared cultural route by the Council of Europe in the year of 1994. The Via Francigena also passes by San Gimignano and that is why you can start straight from the villa i pini.
Make a reservation for you next hiking vacation at i pini in San Gimignano.
